I have been taking photos for about 7 years, and was looking for a refresher course to learn more about taking photos. This class was perfect and I love the fact that I can go back and review classes down the road.

    Very well worth the investment.

This is the BEST beginner’s photography course out there! It covers everything an amateur needs to know about and it is explained really well. Even for non amateurs this course can still teach you one or two tricks you did not know about. I have been photographing since 2010 with my professional camera but it wasn’t until I began this course that I really started improving in my photography and seeing fantastic results.

    Goodbye blurry photos!

Thank you Jim and Dustin for creating these courses and sharing them with the world.

I took this class after listening to their podcast. I thought let me start from the beginning, so I did.

I have been a serious photography hobbyist for 40 years but these gentlemen taught me some things I never knew, and reminded me of things I had forgotten.

The experience was fantastic, and as soon as I can I will be taking the next class so I can get even better at photography. Thanks also for reminding me how much fun it is to take creative photos.

I loved the fact that I could sit down at any time and review at my own pace and review again when needed. I did not take advantage of feedback on my photos as I feel I am not ready yet. But one day I hope to. Thank you guys for making things easy. I will be taking another class at some point in the future.

I did a lot of research in the internet before selecting this course and I can tell you, this have been worth every buck spent. I can notice the improvement in my photography from the completion of first module itself.

The instructors take you step by step explaining every concept that is there in detail. The best part of the course is its self paced approach.

I am aspiring photographer, not because I want to get paid for taking pictures, but because I love taking photographs, sharing the pictures I take, and the positive feedback I receive from my pictures. I’m an aspiring photographer, because I want to be able to take professional looking photographs… on purpose. Not just by accident. :0)

I just completed the Beginner’s Course and it was FANTASTIC! I had debated taking the beginner’s course because I had already taken another online beginner’s course and thought I knew a lot about aperture, ISO and shutter speed already, but when I read the course description, I decided to take it because there seemed to be some topics covered that were not covered in the other class I took. There was A LOT of information in this course that wasn’t even touched by the other online course. Information such as where to put your focus points and the 1/3 rule to help us amateurs grow in our skills. It was also very apparent in your videos that Jim loves what he does and he truly wants to help others reach the same point. I liked that. I also like that I will always have access to this content and can go back and refresh my memory.

Thank you for great classes and wonderful examples! Thanks to this class, I decided to try shooting in RAW mode, and using Lightroom as opposed to Photoshop for editing. I’ve had Lightroom for a couple of years, but have never used it. I’ve just felt more comfortable using Photoshop I guess (future classes to take, btw). Pretty scary stuff, stepping out of my comfort zone, but it turned out great and I got some fantastic pictures because of it.

    On to the intermediate class!

This course was so enjoyable. I’m having so much fun learning new things about photography. I’m a 53 year old grandmother. Having grandchildren (9 now) is what began my love affair with photography. I’m so pleased that I purchased the intermediate course in a package with my beginner course. It was such a great value! Thank you improvephotography team!

I have signed up for both the Beginning and Intermediate Photography courses so far and am now reaching the end of the Beginning course. I have been taking pictures for a couple of years and have taken a number of classes but none of them have been as valuable as this one. Jim Harmer has managed to create an incredibly unique teaching experience. He is so articulate and has a gift for taking a complicated concept and breaking it down into something that is actually easy to understand. His location shoots are so helpful. The Waterfall Shoot was brilliant. Being able to follow along with him on a shoot and have him walk us through everything from setting up the tripod, to dialing in the settings that he used, to composing the shot, etc. really helped give me the confidence to go out and try it myself. I’d compare it to when you first start out cooking and you need to follow a recipe but then, as you get more experienced, you’re able to experiment with different ingredients. It’s like he gives us a recipe that we can follow and then adapt to our personal preferences as we get more experienced. I’m having so much fun with his classes that I’m already dreading the day that I complete all of them. It’s like a good book that you don’t want to end :-). As a side note, if you have not already, you should check out his podcasts as well. It’s my favorite of all the photography podcasts out there.

Fantastic course!! As an instructor for my Police Department in crime scene investigations, this refresher in beginner’s photography allowed me to re-emphasize the need for a foundation in the basics of camera familiarization. I look forward to moving on to the Flash and the new Lightroom courses. Happy Holidays to Jim and family!!!

I thoroughly enjoyed the beginner and intermediate courses. I really appreciated the “bite size” lessons and the ability to work at my own pace. I love that I can go back and review specific topics. This is particularly valuable when I try out a new technique and it doesn’t work the way I had planned. I can go back to the lesson and figure out what I missed. Both courses offered a wide variety of lessons that helped open my eyes to some new ideas and helped me solidify things I already knew (or thought I already knew). My favorite part was the instructor feedback. It is so difficult to find a qualified and unbiased person to review my work. Being able to get direct feedback from Jim was priceless. As soon as I can, I am going to enroll in another course. Thanks!

Although I’ve been at this photography thing for nearly two years, I still consider myself a novice. This course has done for me what no other has. I’ve taken two other courses with two different institutions and I can say that I got more from this course than both of those combined. I am sure that they taught the same things as this course but they were boring, format was not great, and the lesson plans were not in logical order. This course was great and it held my attention right down to the end. I really appreciate how down-to-earth the instructors are and how they simplify everything. Thanks guys….I’m FINALLY getting it!!!
